The ESNNA Code refers to the "Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children and Adolescents from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism" in Peru. This initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) to combat the sexual exploitation of minors in the sector.
Objectives of the ESNNA Code
The main objective of the ESNNA Code is to prevent and eradicate the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the travel and tourism industry. This is achieved through the implementation of ethical and responsible practices by industry businesses, as well as continuous awareness-raising among tourists and workers.
Commitments Undertaken
Companies that adopt the ESNNA Code actively commit to:
- Awareness and Training: Train staff to identify and prevent risk situations.
- Information for Clients and Suppliers: Disseminate policies and measures adopted to combat this crime.
- Refusal of Services: Firmly refuse service to anyone involved in the sexual exploitation of minors.
- Mandatory Reporting: Immediately report any suspicion or indication to the competent authorities.
- Institutional Collaboration: Fully cooperate with local authorities in enforcing regulations.
- Internal Measures: Implement internal corporate policies that reinforce the protection of minors.
Code Implementation
- Sign a direct formal commitment with MINCETUR.
- Designate a responsible person within the company to ensure compliance.
- Continuously participate in prevention training and updates.
