Feel the adrenaline of sandboarding in the Huacachina Desert, accompanied by a dune buggy ride across Peru’s highest dunes. A unique experience amidst oases and golden sands in Paracas and Huacachina.
07:00 hrs – Pick-up from your hotel in Paracas and departure for Ica, traveling through beautiful coastal and desert landscapes.
10:00 hrs – Arrival at the Huacachina Oasis, a spot surrounded by palm trees and dunes that create a unique natural setting in South America. Brief time to explore the lagoon and take photos.
10:30 hrs – Start of the dune buggy adventure, traversing the impressive desert dunes with adrenaline-filled climbs and descents.
11:00 hrs – Sandboarding experience on Huacachina’s highest dunes. Our expert guide will provide brief instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, whether you choose to slide standing up (like on a surfboard) or sitting down for a fun-filled descent.
12:30 hrs – Free time on the dunes to admire the scenery, take panoramic photos, and soak up the magic of the desert.
13:30 hrs – Return to the Huacachina Oasis, where you can relax, stroll around the area, or enjoy a refreshing local cocktail.
14:00 hrs – Transfer back to Paracas.

- Insurance: Travel medical, health, or personal accident insurance covering adventure sports.
- Personal expenses: Optional tips for the dune buggy driver, guide, or transfer driver, and souvenir purchases.
- Closed-toe footwear required: Wear securely fastened sneakers suitable for walking and moving across the sand. Sandals or flip-flops are easily lost in the dunes, and the sand can burn your feet in the midday heat.
- Sun and sand protection: Bring high-SPF sunscreen, securely fitting sunglasses, and a scarf or bandana to cover your mouth and nose during the high-speed buggy ride.
- Comfortable, lightweight clothing: Wear cool clothing for the daytime heat, but consider bringing a light jacket or windbreaker to protect against the wind while moving through the desert.
- Protection for electronic devices: Store phones and cameras in airtight, sealable bags (such as Ziploc bags) to prevent sand dust from getting into lenses or charging ports.
Is prior experience required for sandboarding?
No. The specialized guide will provide basic instruction before the descents. You can go down the dunes standing up or lying/sitting on the board; the latter option is extremely easy and fun for beginners.
Is the desert entrance fee included?
No. The tourist boarding fee for entering the protected desert area by buggy is usually not included and is paid in cash (Soles) directly at the Huacachina boarding area.
What time do you get back to the hotel in Paracas?
The return transfer begins around 2:00 PM in Huacachina, arriving at your hotel in Paracas approximately between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM.
Is this excursion suitable for the whole family?
Yes, it is suitable for both children and adults. Dune buggy drivers can adjust the intensity and speed of the ride upon request, making it more leisurely or scenic depending on the passengers' preferences.
